Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin meets with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister

China opposes threats of force and sanctions pressure and supports Irans peaceful use of nuclear energy

On February 5, 2026, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin met with Iranian Vice Foreign Minister Gharib Abadi, and the two sides focused on exchanging views on the current situation of the Iranian nuclear issue.
Liu Bin said that China always stands for peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means and opposes the threat of force and sanctions and pressure. China supports Iran's legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and notes that Iran has repeatedly reiterated its unwillingness to develop nuclear weapons. China will continue to work with the international community to promote the proper settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue.
Gharib Abadi appreciated China's objective and just position on the Iranian nuclear issue and was willing to maintain communication and coordination with China.
