Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Iranian Vice Foreign minister Gharib Abadi in Beijing.
On 5 February 2026 Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Iranian Vice Foreign minister GharibAbadi in Beijing.
Gharib Abadi briefed on the situation in Iran and related issues related to the Iranian nuclear issue, stressing that Iran is committed to resolving issues through diplomatic means and is willing to advance negotiations on the basis of fairness and justice. Iran opposes external deterrence and pressure, appreciates China's contribution to safeguarding regional and world peace and stability, and welcomes China to play a greater role.
Miao deyu elaborated on China's principled position on the Iranian issue, saying that China closely follows the situation in Iran and supports Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, national dignity and legitimate rights and interests. China opposes unilateral bullying and forced pressure in international relations, and opposes interference in other countries' internal affairs. China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties, including Iran, to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the basic norms governing international relations, to upheld the principle of sovereign equality, and to uphold international fairness and justice.
The two sides also exchanged views on China-Iran cooperation in various fields.
