Iran Joins the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization
Recently Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to China Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli signed the founding document of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) on behalf of the Iranian government marking Iran’s membership in this newly established international organization
Following the signing ceremony, Ambassador Fazli held a meeting with Liu Bin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China. He emphasized that multilateral cooperation is of great importance for shaping the future development of advanced technologies. He stated that Iran is willing to actively participate in artificial intelligence research, applications, and the formulation of international rules, contributing to the establishment of a fair and equitable international technology governance mechanism.
He further noted that through participation in this important international initiative, Iran will continue to pursue constructive engagement in emerging technology fields and utilize the potential of artificial intelligence to promote sustainable development and social progress.
The World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) was established on July 16, 2026, with its headquarters located in Shanghai, China. It is an independent intergovernmental international organization dedicated to promoting international cooperation and global governance in artificial intelligence, ensuring that AI develops in a beneficial, safe, fair, and healthy direction.
